Hello,
Just wanted to let everyone know, we are all fine here at Danita's Children. The earthquake was sizable here in Ouanaminthe but nothing like it was in Port-Au-Prince. Everything in our house shook and swayed but we suffered no structural damage. Thank God!
Our hearts go out to all those in Port-Au-Prince. The destruction and loss is unbelievable. The collapse of Port-Au-Prince is affecting the whole nation.
Danita, the founder of our ministry, left for Port-Au-Prince (PAP) three days ago to bring back many new orphans. Their are literally thousands of children who were orphaned from the earthquake.
Haiti has closed all schools indefinitely. We are planning on using our church as temporary housing for other possible orphanages that have lost their homes, as well as for new children that will come to live with us...we are expecting between 150 - 200 children.
Attached are pictures of the first three children Danita has chosen to bring into our home.
The first picture is of Johnny. Johnny is 7 years old. He has a broken leg and has been in a tent hospital for 10 days, all alone. He is scarred and wants his mom. The doctors say everyone died in his house.
The second picture: Katiana is our newest little girl. She just had her arm amputated and she is still smiling...incredible.
The third picture: Is a little boy named Gaby...I don't know his story, yet.
Danita will continue to gather children over the next week. She is visiting many make shift tent hospitals and orphanages, trying to help as many children as possible.
Please pray for us. Pray for strength, protection, & discernment over Danita as she is in PAP. Pray that God would help us to choose the children that He has called us to help, pray for healing & peace to come to the children's hearts (many of them will be scarred), finances to feed, clothe, & supply the needs of the children, pray for extra staff (we have teams of people coming over the next few months to help with the children but we are praying that some will decide to move to Haiti permanently).
I will keep you updated as things unfold.
With much love, Brenda |
